Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program Reopens August 25, 2026

August 3, 2026

Oregon residents and businesses considering an electric vehicle purchase should take note: the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) has announced that the Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program will reopen on August 25, 2026, and is expected to remain open through November 4, 2026.

Due to anticipated demand, DEQ expects available funding to be fully subscribed and plans to suspend rebates beginning November 5, 2026. Vehicles purchased or leased before August 25, 2026, or on or after November 5, 2026, will not be eligible for rebates.

Available Rebates

DEQ offers two rebate options, but applicants may only receive one:

Standard Rebate

Available to Oregon residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies.

  • New battery electric vehicle (BEV): $2,000
  • New plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV): $1,500
  • New zero-emission motorcycle: $375

Charge Ahead Rebate

Available to qualifying low- and moderate-income households and certain nonprofit organizations.

Used Vehicles

  • Used BEV: $4,000 (up to 30% of purchase price)
  • Used PHEV: $2,500 (up to the purchase price)

New Vehicles

  • New BEV: $7,500
  • New PHEV: $5,000

All vehicles must appear on DEQ’s Eligible Vehicle List.

Prequalification Available Now

Income-eligible applicants can apply now for Charge Ahead prequalification and receive a voucher to use at participating dealerships once the program reopens. This may help streamline the purchase process and improve access to available funding.

What Clients Should Know

Applicants have six months from the date of purchase or lease to submit their rebate application. If approved applications exceed available funding, qualified applicants may be placed on a waiting list for payment when additional funds become available in spring 2027.

For taxpayers and business owners considering an EV purchase, this rebate can provide meaningful savings. However, timing is critical. To qualify, vehicles must be purchased or leased during the program’s open window between August 25 and November 4, 2026.
