A couple moved to the Oregon coast after successful careers with large corporations. Soon they had a chance to purchase a small business. Not long after taking over the business, the couple was faced with a difficult IRS issue due to some bad advice they received. Jones & Roth was asked to get involved and we were able to head off the IRS issue. We also noticed the couple, in their 50's, did not have an adequate retirement plan in place.
We helped the couple set up a retirement plan that would not only benefit them but would also cover their employees. The plan not only would fund the couple's future retirement, it also was structured to reduce their current personal income tax.
Not long after purchasing the business, our clients had an opportunity to buy the building housing the business. We talked to the local banks and were able to help our clients secure a no-money-down loan at a reasonable interest rate in order to make the purchase.
Over time the business grew from approximately $100,000 gross revenue a year to almost $100,000 gross revenue a month. Eventually the couple decided to retire and sell their business. Jones & Roth helped negotiate the successful sale and arrange a long-term lease of the building to the new owner.
The couple is enjoying a comfortable retirement thanks to the assistance from Jones & Roth. Our firm is still preparing the couple's tax return.
